We Came As Romans Pull on Heart Strings with ‘Golden’

Talk about a drip-feed! Metalcore outfit We Came As Romans have been trickling singles for what feels like forever ahead of their looming record Darkbloom, out October 14 via SharpTone Records. Over the past year or more we’ve heard the new and heavier edition of WCAR with a cast of new tracks including title track ‘Darkbloom‘ (plus the reinvented deathcore version with Brand of Sacrifice), ‘Black Hole‘ feat. Beartooth‘s Caleb Shomo, ‘Daggers‘ feat. Zero 9:36 as well as ‘Plagued‘.

Though a tonne of the tracks are already out, there’s still some more fresh tunes to get amongst, including a brand new one today called ‘Golden‘ and it’s a certified banger. We Came As Romans follow on with their emerging heavier style but this time leaning into the clean vocal / melodic legacy left by Kyle Pavone.

A tasty little breakdown gets delivered after the midway mark, even though that’s not what this song is leaning on as it’s definitely a more emotive track (however the tension certainly doesn’t hurt). Amongst the existing singles, Darkbloom is becoming quite the diverse record, bring on release day!

On the new single guitarist Joshua Moore comments:

“‘Golden’ is a song that’s really close to our hearts. I wrote the verse lyrics about the day that Kyle passed, that morning when we got the call, and the emotion we felt. Kyle was such a bright light in our lives, and it felt like that light was gone without him. This song was about dealing with those feelings and trying to find a way through this new darkness we all felt completely lost in.”
