We Came As Romans Drop Yet Another Straight-Up Banger, ‘Plagued’ + Announce Darkbloom Album

We Came As Romans - Plagued review

Update: We Came As Romans have announced new record Darkbloom, out October 14 via SharpTone Records.

The new era of We Came As Romans is a metalcore wet dream. The bounty of tunes have been nothing short of fantastic, all the way from ‘Darkbloom‘ last year through to ‘Black Hole‘ feat. Beartooth‘s Caleb Shomo and ‘Daggers‘ feat. Zero 9:36. Let’s also not forget that reinvented menacing deathcore ‘Darkbloom‘ edition with Brand of Sacrifice, which really blew us away.

On the new record, guitarist Josh Moore shared:

“We are so excited to finally be able to announce the release of our next record Darkbloom. This will be our first record in five years, and we want to thank you all for being patient with us as we were figuring out if we could, and how we could continue moving forward as a band. We wrote this record about all the feelings we felt, and all the emotional places we lived in, navigating the loss of our brother Kyle. Every song is about a different part of our lives over the past few years, an insight to the struggles we had, and how we were able to make it to where we are now. We hope you all can take a deep dive into these songs and connect with us – and if you’re feeling any of the ways we did, we hope these songs can help you push forward.

This record is dedicated to Kyle – we’ll never forget you, and we will never stop saying your name.”

With a new album announced, We Came As Romans have maintained their position on top of the metalcore pops, if you will. To keep that momentum going, WCAR have now shared another absolute banger, this one titled ‘Plagued‘.

The track opens with a verse of raspy cleans, behind some crunchy riffs that heavily hint impending explosion, which surely does rapidly ensue. The band dial it up for the chorus as expected with backing-vocals accentuating the emotive elements, as the rest of the band pack a punch with immense production on bass and drums. I am so excited for what else is to come from WCAR, as everything these boys have touched recently has been nothing short of wild.
