Ice Nine Kills are slowly but surely wrapping up their album cycle for The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood, but before they're back for one last scare in the form of new track 'Meat & Greet'.
If you don't know already (uppercut yourself if you don't), the band released tracks based on horror flicks and if you're a true fan, you may remember our speculation piece, where we went over potential movies Ice Nine Kills' mastermind Spencer Charnas could have written songs about, prior to the album's release. We ended up hearing killer songs influenced by everything from My Bloody Valentine, Resident Evil, Pet Sematary and more. This freshie is all about The Silence Of the Lambs.
'Meat & Greet' draws you in with a fast-paced piano, taking us up to the infamous scene where Jodie Foster's Clarice Starling was first introduced to Anthony Hopkins' Hannibal Lecter in the cult classic. What follows is an assault on the sences with plenty of gutturals, menacing synth and Charnas' impeccable cleans that set the tone for the EPIC storytelling. In what could be a sibling to previously released singles such as 'FuneralDerangements' and the Saw-inspired 'The Jig Is Up' from the original, The Silver Scream.
Soaring guitars take us to completion and an incredible breakdown call (I'll save this spoiler for you to hear on your first listen) that'll have you laughing with delight all make for an epic closer to the horror/core collaboration collection.
The track comes from the band's deluxe edition of The Silver Scream 2: Welcome To Horrorwood: Under Fire set for release on October 20th - pre-order here
