Ah, Coachella.

The event for America's West Coast rounded out the first weekend celebrations which saw the likes of Lady Gaga, Green Day and Post Malone headline the Californian festival in fine form with plenty of surprises along the way.

Travis Barker joined rap outfit Three 6 Mafia alongside Machine Gun Kelly. The Misfits delivered a heavy assault on the punters in attendance. Australian bands SPEED and Amyl & The Sniffers brought a taste of down under to the Empire Polo Club grounds and a rapper by the name of Megan Thee Stallion introduced her audience to the wonderful world of metalcore when she brought out the Queen of Core herself, Courtney LaPlante, for the live debut of their collab single 'TYG' aka Test Your Gangsta.

Despite sound and microphone issues plaguing her set, Megan powered through the performance and allowed Courtney to have her time to shine amidst a sea of Big Foot (is the plural Feet!?) backup dancers.

Could this be the start of metalcore's rise in mainstream USA? Following on from Spiritbox's Grammy nomination - and global headlines when LaPlante was mistaken for Poppy - we could see the Box added to next year's lineup? We sure hope so!

Keep your eyes peeled for more surprised when Coachella kicks off again this weekend for round two.
