Polaris Pummel Expectations on Latest Single ‘Overflow’

We are etching closer and closer to one of the most highly anticipated album drops of 2023 – the third Polaris album Fatalism arrives NEXT FRIDAY – September 1st on Resist/Sharptone Records and to keep the eagerness at bay, they’ve launched their third single from it titled ‘Overflow‘.

Following on from the releases of ‘Inhumane‘ and ‘Nightmare‘, the fresh hit draws us in with frontman Jamie Hails’ new approach to clean vocals, alongside an easy introduction music wise, that explodes by the chorus when bassist Jake Steinhauser joins in on vocal duties. It’s not long before the screams return as the guitars duel in the background. It borders more on the melodic side of metalcore, yet still packs a heavy punch in key moments throughout, especially that nasty breakdown!

On the new song, drummer Daniel Furnari shares:

“This is one of the much more personal and vulnerable tracks on the record lyrically, whereas the other two singles took a wider, more outward perspective… I feel like the meaning of the song is fairly self explanatory, and I think a lot of people will naturally interpret it through the lens of their own experiences, but essentially for me it’s about the struggle of fighting off a panic attack and the impact of that struggle on others.”

The accompanying music video also features a posthumous performance from guitarist Ryan Siew, which will not only keep his legacy alive, but showcase the incredible talent he had. It’s still raw to see him and the boys together, but we’ll never forget the impact he had on the band and the music scene as a whole.

Make sure to catch boys touring across the country with August Burns Red, Kublai Khan TX and Currents from September 7th – this will be the band’s first tour since the passing of Ryan, so let’s all make it one to remember.
