Graves Resurrect From The Dead with ‘Reaper’s Pull’ feat. Bobak Rafiee

Even though it was teased not so long ago, we at WoS HQ are still pinching ourselves over the fact that Wollongong’s very own Graves are back with their first offering since their critically acclaimed debut album, Monster, which was released back in 2016… I know what you’re thinking – this seems far too good to be true. Well, hang tight because it gets a whole lot better.

The new track titled ‘Reapers Pull‘, features the vocal prowess of Justice For The Damned frontman Bobak Rafiee and continues along the path of their usual style of lyricism which consists of self-critical and despairing themes. To give us further insight, the band goes on to tell Wall of Sound:

“‘Reapers Pull’ is about the inability to ask for help and the callus becoming so thick you refuse it anyway. The song discusses the theme of self disparity and the pit it can place you in when you do not want to be saved.”

The song is viciously aggressive, which is a territory that this group are all too familiar with. The inclusion of Bobak Rafiee‘s versatile vocals adds a contrast which only strengthens the tracks high tempo sound. This five-piece have stepped back into the world of heavy music, and have seemingly found their footing straight away, as if the eight year long hiatus was only a dream. ‘Reapers Pull‘ is gifted to us only weeks ahead of the groups headline national tour where you can be sure to catch this headbang inducing banger live in person.
