Melodic pop/punk outfit Letters to Amara unleash their explosive debut EP From the Beginning this month, and it features 5 hard hitting melodic pop tracks guaranteed to get stuck in your head instantly. Celeste and the boys have recently played supports to Between You & Me and Eat Your Heart Out in their hometown of Melbourne, and it sounds like they’ve got the potential for similar levels of success, if From the Beginning is anything to go by.
Leading single ‘It’s Not Game Over Yet’ is an anthem for the young and hopeful featuring an energetic pop-fuelled chorus that’s no doubt going to get stuck in your head. Vocalist Celeste shows an incredible vocal range on this song, as well as on the rest of this EP. ‘Heart of You’ is riff-laden with pop melodies, complemented by some gang vocals over the bridge, making it a light-hearted pop/punk tune.
The piano inspired ‘Scarier Than Spiders’ is complemented by distorted rock guitars, but what makes this song a highlight is Kyle’s vocals over the bridge throughout the track. They’re bringing some serious emo rock vibes here. ‘We Could Be Perfect’ is the standout track, Celeste’s emotions can definitely be heard on this one as well as her unique vocal abilities.
Synth-laden ‘Invincible’ shows plenty of potential for the band with that dramatic guitar to introduce the song. Followed by the post-hardcore sounding breakdown with Kyle’s screams over the top make this a particularly strong track from the band.
From the Beginning show heaps of potential for Letters to Amara with this electrifying debut. Their pop-fuelled sound, accompanied by explosive guitar riffs makes for a pretty unique style and sets them apart from the rest. It’d be cool to see what else these guys can come up with later down the track and far they can go.
