Ex-Fever 333 Members Launch New Band House of Protection’s Debut Song feat. Jordan Fish

Two of heavy music’s finest musicians have remained friends and bandmates and today we get our first taste of their new project – House of Protection.
Aric Improta and Stephen Harrison made their presence known with bands such as Night Verses and The Chariot before joining Fever 333 in 2017 and dominating the world stage up until October 2022 when both announced their departure from the Grammy-nominated rock outfit – citing internal and creative differences.
We’ve been waiting with bated breath for their next venture and it’s arrived alongside Mr Jordan Fish (ex-BMTH) on production duties – fresh from his collab with Architects on ‘Curse‘ a few weeks back – and you ain’t ready for this debut.
Heavily centred around a drum & bass influenced instrumental, ‘It’s Supposed To Hurt‘ wastes no time getting straight into the action, drawing you in with the kind of thumping drum beat you feel deep in your chest with and a rap/rock delivery that’ll without a doubt invoke mic-grabs and scream-a-longs at future shows. Despite having Fish on production, the overall sound comes across as raw and authentic rather than overproduced and filled to the brim with synth. The focus here is definitely on the instrumentals with both Aric and Stephen delivering the goods with the kind of professionalism you’d expect from two heavyweights of the heavy scene.
If this debut is about sending a message – the message is received well and clear.
“We wanted to create something where all our ideas, no matter how wild, felt safe.” shares Steve, while Aric further explains the title of their debut and its relation to their new venture, “We knew it wasn’t going to be easy to start again from scratch but that phrase because our ethos”
Time will tell if this will be the band’s signature sound moving forward, but I think we can all appreciate the new approach to rock/heavy music they’re bringing in House of Protection, and I for one cannot wait for what else they’ve been working on – especially with the rumours Poppy may show her face at some point too.
