ERRA Burst Back With Fresh Sounds on 'Cure'; Title-Track Off New Record
What a few years it's been for progressive metalcore kings ERRA. Rising through the scene has been remarkable to watch, but it really was their self-titled 2021 record (with some Deluxe tracks too, mind you) that cemented their space in this scene. Singles like 'Vanish Canvas' and 'Scorpion Hymn' will jog your memory on this remarkable record, If you're reading this, you're no doubt nodding profusely and sweating already at the thought of new tunes.Ahead of their Aussie tour with Northlane this month, the Alabama group are ascending forward on their next er(r)a. The five-piece have just premiered brand new single 'Cure' coupled with a music video via UNFD. That's not all though - ERRA have announced new record Cure, out April 5 - also featuring 'Pale Iris'.Kicking straight into their groove-infused progressive trance, ERRA embark on 2024 with brutal screams from J.T. Cavey. With high-pitched riffs bleeding through, sporting new elements, the metalcore elites triumph a new level of experimentation.Guitarist/singer Jesse Cash comments:
"'Cure' was one of the last songs we wrote for the records. I had this groove riff that I was just so obsessed with, to the point that I wanted to stay with it for the full duration of the song. So even though the song stays in 4/4 for the most part, we're always staying locked into this dotted sequence of on rhythm guitars and kick, making the rhythm feel complex yet easy to latch onto as a listener. In the final breakdown section, we stay with this dotted sequence, but switch the time signature to 6/8 for a few bars, before reverting back to 4/4 to close out the song. These playful tinkerings with time signature serve as a suitable introduction to the approach we took with grooves throughout the whole record."
