Trophy Eyes Pour Their Hearts Out on New Single 'Bittersweet'

Remember back when Trophy Eyes returned to our lives last month with '27 Club', they said there'll be two more singles to follow suit? Well, looks like they're keeping their word because single number two is here for you today. 'Bittersweet' is the band as you've NEVER heard them before.

The song is their most experimental work yet, with its grimey pop sensibilities blended nicely with thumping synth rock, while vocalist John Floreani flourishes ever so nicely in the booming chorus. The track sees Floreani pour his heart out in love and experience true vulnerability:

“There are no rules in love. I know this now but for my teenage self, that was too much to comprehend. Bittersweet is a song about feeling someone slowly slip away, and the cathartic, long winded conversations said in total silence- sometimes with just a single expression. It was my first experience of inadequacy and total loss of control. I was not enough and I drove the person that I loved into someone's more capable arms. I'm not sure that I was even in love, but I was certainly desperate to hold on to the one thing still linking me to my childhood. My first taste of adult life was a bitter introduction to how familiar I would come to be with loneliness.” 

Sucha wholesome, yet all-too familiar feeling. I particularly love how that electronic guitar hook reminds me of summer festival days, which reminds us all that Trophy Eyes will no doubt stun us all during their set at Knight & Day Festival this NYE.
