King Parrot Announce New Album ‘A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot’. First Single Drops as Europe/UK Tour Starts

If King Parrot was a car, the thing would never turn off and the bastard wouldn’t come with brakes. After 18 solid months of touring, which included a stint supporting Pantera in both America and back here in Australia – on a run which also saw their inclusion on last years Knotfest – this legendary quintet out of Melbourne are showing no signs of stopping.

For starters, after 5 long years, we’re finally getting some new music with new song ‘Fuck You And The Horse You Rode In On’ from their newly announced upcoming album titled A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot, due for release on June 6. Anyone whose been smart enough to catch these extremes metal maniacs in person these last 12 months would have heard the fresh tune and in true King Parrot fashion it goes straight for the throat.

Commenting on the lyrical approach King Parrot main man, Matt Young said:

“Essentially this track is dedicated to anyone that has ever crossed you, tried to belittle you or make you feel less than. The title is pretty self-explanatory. There’s multiple people in my life from across the past few years that this song goes out to, and there’s a special spot in the lyrics for each of them. Cowards, Abusers, Bullies and Creeps, Fuck You And the Horse Your Rode In On!”

The accompanying film clip below, an early contender for Video of The Year with its homage to that classic piece of cinema, Trainspotting, was produced by longtime video collaborator Dan Farmer of Farmwalker Films, the man responsible for the majority of the band’s revered music videos including the Australian Music Video finalist “Shit on The Liver”.

“The video process for Horse was challenging. It ain’t easy recreating a scene where a bunch of dudes dive into a toilet bowl! We had the best time making it, but it certainly took a lot of effort and commitment from everyone involved. Our video producer Dan Farmer is a genius at his craft and his ability to turn our visions into a reality is brilliant. Paying homage to Trainspotting was so much fun, and we hope we captured a video that people can return to for years to come.” Youngy continues.

To coincide with today’s release of “Fuck You and the Horse Your Rode In On”, the lads embark on their huge 11 date European and UK tour supporting Pantera and Power Trip tonight in Berlin, a tour that will finish at none other than Wembley Arena. They will then be joining Czech death metal legends Master for a further 24 dates around Europe through March.

As for the new album, it promises to be a hostile and abrasive slab of sensory destroying anthems. A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot features 10 thoroughly crafted blasts through the psyche of the crazed Aussie quintet. The fellas have applied an old school approach to songwriting whilst adopting a new approach to production in the studio. This carefully crafted opus promises to be the most complete, aggressive and urgent King Parrot have ever sounded.

Pulling the new record together was a meticulously creative endeavour steered by guitarist Andrew Livingstone-Squires and vocalist Matt Young who comments:

“Throughout the entire mixing process we ensured that we got every element where we wanted it. Guitar and bass tones were experimented with until we found exactly what we wanted, the drum sounds were just right, and the performance was executed solidly, it’s easily the best studio effort we’ve ever made. Vocally, I rehearsed a lot so that when I recorded it was a breeze.”

Recorded at Melbourne’s Dangertone Studios with engineer Luke Walton, A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot will be released on June 6, 2025
