Thornhill Produce The Heat with BODIES Album Announcement and New Single ‘Silver Swarm’

Since 2023, Thornhill have been teasing a new era and reshaped identity through a string of singles. Sultry, provocative, and dirty, these singles see Thornhill remove the refinement they built within their last album cycle, presenting new music that feels like a sticky club floor- in the best way possible. The release of their latest offering, ‘Silver Swarm’, has finally put the questions of “if” and “when” to bed, coinciding with the announcement of their third studio album, BODIES. Releasing April 4th, there is truly not too much time before the album drops, and this track is proving hefty enough to see us out until the projects drop.

‘Silver Swarm’ continues to hone into this notion of party and dance, opening with a kind of club-style reverb, almost like you’re having the necessary middle-of-the-night breakdown in the bathroom, and hearing the tracks thump from the other side of the door. We have seen it a lot in this single run, but none more so than this track, presenting such a dichotomous feeling at play; tangling Jacob Charlton’s ethereal and angelic vocals in a grungy musical landscape. At times it is gritty. At times it is dirty. It is an encapsulation of the pulsing and sweaty nightclub environment.

Despite the visceral feelings, Thornhill still triumphs in their eloquent and dynamic storytelling, with ‘Silver Swarm’ outlining the destruction and harm conjured within manipulative relationships, all of which grow into a parasitic overcoming of one’s sense of self, being, and feeling.

We see the regality and precision of Heroine replaced with moments of sheer feeling, a capturing of time that in turn, have escaped this polished feeling the band has been branded by, to create moments that feel raw and not overthought. Despite this however, there are still homages to their past selves, particularly notable within the guitar work and layered riffs (oh, and the Arkangelcallback within the chorus). This remains true when ‘Silver Swarm’ buzzes around the band’s signature breakdown style, although it has a flair of difference within this new era.

BODIES marks a bold evolution in our ever-developing sound. Heroine was defined by its meticulously crafted and tightly woven concept, but the weight of this careful construction sometimes overshadowed the energy of the music itself, leaving some listeners feeling disconnected. With BODIES, we have embraced a more immediate, unfiltered approach that feels like a lightning bolt, looking to capture the energy of Thornhill right now.

The album thrives on spontaneity and freedom, foregoing rigid concepts in favor of pure, in-your-face authenticity. It’s less about delivering a carefully constructed narrative and more about creating a visceral, open-ended experience.

BODIES serves as a sonic moodboard—a collection of feelings and vibes—intentionally left open to interpretation. It has an upbeat and almost celebratory, party energy at times, but also retains all the emotion and intensity Thornhill are known for, making it our heaviest and most explosive work to date. With BODIES, we invite listeners to connect on their own terms. It’s raw, personal, and unapologetically immediate—a record that thrives in the moment, capturing our band at our most authentic and free.” shares Thornhill.

The future of the outfit is looking exciting, and they are sure to yet again flex their muscles as one of Australia’s most dynamic heavy acts.

We have seen the heavy, we have seen the elegant- what will we see next?
