One of the key figures in the iconic Floridian death metal scene, the swampy, groove-driven legends Obituary are bringing in the new year with their Barely Alive in Australia and New Zealand 2024 tour.
Having last steamrolled stages here at the very start 2020 – then celebrating the classic Cause of Death album – Obituary‘s upcoming nine-date tour promises choice cuts from their latest LP Dying of Everything, plus a hefty slab of some of the genre’s most legendary tracks.
In the chief support slot is Tassie Tech Death Kings Psycroptic. As one of Australia’s finest extreme metal exports, their story shows no signs of slowing down some two decades deep in the game.

Having conquered stages across North America and Europe in 2022 and 2023 on the back of their excellent record Divine Council, the Psycroptic lads are well-overdue a run of dates back home and over the ditch.
Rounding out the bill is Melbourne’s Black Lava with their eclectic melding of old school death, black and progressive metal. The hotly tipped act have plenty of experience in their ranks, and combined with backing of an international label in Season of Mist – and a sophomore release rumoured in the works – Black Lava are sure to turn heads with their relentless assault.
With tickets on sale now and shows properly hitting major cities across both countries, Obituary‘s Barely Alive in Australia and New Zealand tour is an unmissable way to bludgeon open 2024.
