Northlane Bounce Back With Latest Album Obsidian + Single ‘Echo Chamber’ + Huge Aussie Tour

Northlane - Carbonized review

A few weeks ago Northlane released their Patreon called Worldeaters, a place where loyal fans can unite and access exclusive info about the band first. Along with teasers, it seemed like Aussie metalcore Gods were up to something, and we have been patiently waiting for an official mention of “#NL6″ as they’ve fondly referred to it.

A little while ago we interviewed guitarist Josh Smith in the lead-up to Full Tilt and Smith shared that they had been recording in the Melbourne Dandenong Ranges to pump focus on the new album, and it’s all culminated to their announcement today.

Well, after a 48+ hour YouTube countdown, Northlane have finally unveiled the beginning of the band’s next era, and there’s a lot going on, so pay attention.

Firstly, the YouTube countdown led to the release of the band’s brand new track titled ‘Echo Chamber’ coupled with a music video, which offers a first taste of Northlane‘s next chapter, aside from ‘Clockwork‘ which was released earlier this year. Take a look further below.

Here are some comments from vocalist Marcus Bridge on ‘Echo Chamber‘:

“It’s hard to be on the internet without seeing people get continuously angry about something. We’re addicted to having a hot take about nothing and it’s quite exhausting. At the same time I shouldn’t let it bother me that much but it’s like a ringing in my ears after a while, so I’m praying I go deaf.”

The next bit of news is probably the piece you’ve been ever so patiently waiting for. Both ‘Echo Chamber‘ and ‘Clockwork’ will feature on Northlane‘s sixth studio album Obsidian, as hinted at in a series of notes posted on the band’s Facebook earlier this week, providing some commentary on their journey and what lies ahead. Obsidian is set for release on April 1, 2022 via indie label Believe.

We have one final bit of news to share from the Northlane camp, and you may not have expected this one. The band will embark on a national tour with HEAPS of special guests: Plini, British outfit Sleep Token as well as ALT. Not only is this a monster tour, but you’ve got to do a double-take to see a bill this large, and with international names included. The tour will hit major cities (see ticketing info further below).
