Our #1 Aussie pop punkers this year, Between You and Me have so far delivered the goods with their first single in over two years, ‘Supervillain’. Proving they’re one of our biggest exports in the scene, the boys followed it up a few months later with the undeniably catchy anthem, ‘Deadbeat’ and since then, that song kinda hasn’t left my daily listening session. Today, they’re setting free brand new single ‘Butterflies’ to coincide with the announcement of their highly anticipated second album, Armageddon.
The follow-up to 2018’s Everything is Temporary, Armageddon will be released upon the world on November 19 through Hopeless Records. Considered the album to almost never happen, Between You and Me have faced numerous hurdles to get their new baby to see the light of day and from what we’ve heard so far, the extraordinary long wait will be worth it come November. The band share the tumultuous journey they’ve taken thus far:
“Whilst it took three years between releases, the journey to release ‘Armageddon’ has certainly shaped the way it sounds. The past 18 months has given us the chance to pause and reflect on the opportunities that we have in front of us. We get to write and perform music for people across the world and this release has become monumental for us. Whilst it has been an extremely difficult period for our band to navigate, ‘Armageddon’ certainly wouldn’t have turned out the way it did without all the challenges along the way.”
‘Butterflies’ is a passionate blend of pop punk with its shimmering hooks teasing our emotions, so expect to catch all the feels while jamming this track on repeat all week. With three-for-three bangers under their belt so far, I think we can expect this new BYAM album to include the band’s most defining tracks yet.
