It's been an interesting period for The Word Alive who haven't released an LP since 2020's Monomania (with ‘No Way Out‘ and ‘Burning Your World Down‘). With lineup changes since, it seems like the metalcore band have Jose DelRio and Daniel Nelson spending a bit more time in the band (if not permanent now).
The last little while has since the Arizonian group drop singles ‘Wonderland‘, ‘Nocturnal Future’ and most recently 'New Reality' from a couple of months ago. The Word Alive have now re-emerged with their latest effort ‘Strange Love‘.
The new single sees the band double down on crunchy guitars and their heavier side both instrumentally and vocally. The track induces nostalgic memories of noughties and tens post-hardcore-come-metalcore and it's delightful. This revival is being soaked up by the scene and the precision of clean-to-unclean volleyball hits the spot, embodying The Word Alive's prime.
