Just a couple of days ago we were reminiscing about the 2022 deathcore monsoon between Fit For An Autopsy, Worm Shepherd and Shadow of Intent as they all released seminal records on the exact same day. The reason we mentioned it was that Worm Shepherd just returned with sequel track 'The Frozen Lake Pt. 2 (The Ruined)'. Strangely enough, their release day buddies in Shadow of Intent have also dropped a new number, only two days later.
The Connecticut four-piece have shared 'The Migrant' - their first taste of new material since the aforementioned album release day for Elegy. We were big fans of the studio album and chatted to guitarist Chris Wiseman all about it - double-hatting with metalcore band Currents as well.
So, without further ado - let's get into their 2023 return single 'The Migrant'. After a symphonic intro, vocalist Ben Duerr wastes no time before bellowing into hellish vocal tones alongside blast-beats from drummer Bryce Butler. Guitarist Chris Wiseman shreds endlessly with a different tact to his release with Currents yesterday. With machine gun riffs and a suite of blackened deathcore components, Shadow of Intent deliver a stepped-up masterpiece for fans.
On the new single, Duerr comments:
"Shadow Of Intent has always been about experimenting and expressing creativity freely, and making sure to have fun with it. With this song we've continued to do just that, reaching back to our roots and breaking some rules along the way, we made something we think you will definitely enjoy. To our oldest fans, and of course the new, The Migrant."
