Architects took out The Faction's Hardest 100 (again) with 'Hereafter' coming in at #1 ahead of Aussie Tour

The countdown you were waiting for was held over the weekend over at The Faction HQ with the now annual Hardest 100 taking place on Saturday, counting down the biggest and best heavy tracks as voted by you and (no surprise) Architects took out the #1 Spot for the second year in a row with their belter of a track 'Hereafter' from last year's stellar release Holy Hell (our review here).

The Brighton boys dominated with 8 songs from their latest album making the countdown including last year's Hardest 100 of All Time winner 'Doomsday' (#3), 'Royal Beggars' (#7), 'Holy Hell' (#17), 'Modern Misery' (#20), 'Death Is Not Defeat', 'The Seventh Circle' (#51) and 'Mortal After All' (#52). The next act to feature a stack of songs from their 2018 release (Reverence) was Parkway Drive who featured five times with 'Wishing Wells' (#6), 'The Void' (#23), 'Absolute Power' (#35), 'Shadow Boxing' (#38) and 'I Hope You Rot' kicking off the countdown at #100.

A stack up established and upcoming Aussie bands made notable appearances like Reliqa's 'Hangman' (#72), Thy Art Is Murder's 'Death Perception' (#43), Make Them Suffer's '27' (#41), Ocean Grove's 'Glass Gloss' (#33) and an all Aussie Assault between #30 and #21 featuring Thornhill, The Gloom In The Corner, Gravemind, Trophy Eyes, Northlane, Void of Vision, Above Below, Parkway Drive, The Amity Affliction and Hellions happened.

Alpha Wolf proved they're hot property at the moment with both of their singles from last year 'No Name' (#8) and 'Black Mamba' (#2) scoring a position in the Top 10. The Hellions boys kicked off the final race with 'Smile' at (#10), while Slipknot's 'All Out Life' (#5) and Bring Me The Horizon's Grammy Nominated 'MANTA' (#4) rounded out the final tracks of the countdown which completely blew up this year, receiving over 20,000 votes.

The Faction head honcho Tim Price was stoked with the outcome stating "The socials were going crazy - people were partying everywhere across Australia and we saw a few people partying overseas too - people were uniting around heavy music, VERY few criticisms/whinges - so all in all, I loved it. I was very very happy with how it all went."

One thing we noticed was no placings for Pagan and High Tension, both of whom released incredible albums last year, but as Pricey added, the bands who did the hard yards getting their fans to vote for them reaped the rewards:

"...there was a bunch of local bands and relatively smaller known bands who really engaged their fans around voting for them - but with 20,000 votes in the bag, the bands did REALLY well to get there."

Its no secret Architects have a plethora of fans in Australia who got involved and voted for them, it wasn't really surprising either according to Tim who said: "Holy Hell was a CRACKING album and that shows in the showing it had - 8/11 tracks from Holy Hell made the countdown!"

The Hardest 100 will return in 2020 to count down the biggest and best heavy tracks from this year and so far there have already been some impressive releases, so take note and get ready ahead of time to avoid disappointment. Also, get ready because Architects are returning to Australia in August playing some of their biggest shows to date and you better believe they'll be playing some of the tracks featured in the Hardest 100 this year.
