Woe, Is Me Leave Faces ‘Red’ With Volatile New Single

On their righteous return to the scene since 2013 Woe, Is Me has crept their way back into the hearts of many early 2010 emos with ethereal resurgence ‘Ghost’ and their solid 2009-2012 band member line-up.

While their unique heavy display they’re best known for was neglected until the last minute of the return single, it wedged the band back slaying stages across the nation playing Blue Ridge Rock Festival along with a string of shows traversing the US once again for the first time in 11 years as a band.

Despite re-entering the scene on a softer note musically, Woe, Is Me have really shaken off the rust, bringing back a more of an original recipe for their fresh hot, crispy single, ‘Red’. The keyboard/synth intro immediately halted by knee-rattling screams by Michael Bohn who has only improved & strengthened his talents during their break period. Hance Alligood deserves and standing ovation for his vocal performance in ‘Red’, transcending vocal octaves and killer harmonies towards the end of the track, surely placed there to give you goosebumps. Matthew Whyde shows what he can bring to the table for Woe, Is Me on drums since taking over the role as an unannounced replacement for Austin Thornton. With his constant flow, sharp transitional changes, unique cymbal incorporations and an absolutely murderous backbone for the breakdowns.

With ‘Red’ being a much more explosive single than ‘Ghost’, I can only hope the hype for this band has been fully reignited. Woe, Is Me have a very solid line-up of musicians this time around,who all seem to have a deep appreciation for each other as shown on their personal and band social media.

Has Woe, Is Me hit the lottery with their latest single? Hopefully all the Number[s] are the right ones.
