Voyager Return with Tear-Inducing Single ‘Seen Better Days’ Based on Danny Estrin's Cancer Battle

Perth prog icons Voyager have had a bumpy ride since the ecstasy of their 2023 Eurovision grand final performance and release of the brilliant album Fearless in Love. Frontman Danny Estrin has battled cancer since late 2023, forcing cancellation of their touring plans and new music… until today!
New single ‘Seen Better Days’ is a reflection on Estrin’s illness and treatment, backed by contemplative synths and guitar chords before dropping some beastly riffs and even a quick bass solo. It’s a stunning composition that captures all we love about Voyager - great music and a lot of heart. Despite feeling hopeless at times, the song is ultimately optimistic as Estrin declares “I’m still standing here.”
On the band’s socials, Estrin has described the songs as “dark music”.
“It won't come as a surprise that 'Seen Better Days' is a personal account of the 18 months of hell, through chemotherapy, radiation and surgery that I have endured. Embracing the beautiful love and support I have received from friends, family and fans while often putting on a brave face in the horrid abyss of stage 4 cancer is no easy feat, so I felt it was right to put it to words and music. Somehow as brutally vulnerable as the song is, it still maintains an uplifting melancholy and, despite its crushing ending, manages a breath of optimism through the bleakness... after all, life is beautiful.”

Tickets for Voyager’s return to the stage have already flown, with two shows in their hometown. The June 21st all ages show is already sold out and the July 4th show won’t be far behind.
