Suicide Silence Unleash Crushing Track 'You Must Die'
The deathcore drip-feed continues from our boys in Suicide Silence. After recently celebrating their 20 year anniversary, the Cali breakdown masters have shared that their next record will be called Remember... You Must Die, coming out in the first quarter of 2023. The announcement came with no further album info, but the title was shared after they released 'Thinking in Tongues' - their first single since their Become The Hunter record (our review here and interview with guitarist Mark Heylmun here).
With the 2022 single, Suicide Silence announced the mutual departure of drummer Alex Lopez who was a member of the band since 2006. With Ernie Iniguez on tour with the band, it's unclear who is the next permanent drummer. Either way, they're pushing forward with a bunch of touring and today have a second new track out called 'You Must Die'.
The new release is less than three-minutes but it's all killer, no filler. There's two halves to this beast, the first half is a tornado of crushing blast-beats with notably delightful production, and the second half where things slow down to a disgustingly heavy deathcore pace, ultimately leading to a classic Suicide Silence breakdown leaving you in a pleasant daze. The band's 2022 direction is certainly shaping up, and since this track's title is partially the album title too, hopefully it's typical of how the record's going to sound.
On the new single, the band comments:
“’You Must Die’ reminds us that time is merciless. Every second the clock ticks we grow closer to death and what happens after our short bout with time is a total mystery. ‘You Must Die’ was written as a reminder to remember death and to not let time be our master."
