Silent Planet Deliver Mathy Number 'Signal:'
Last year Silent Planet released their biggest album to date Iridescent (our review here), featuring metalcore hits of the year like 'Trilogy', 'Anhedonia' and a bunch more. We had a chat to vocalist Garett Russell who shared all the ins-and-outs of the record, including their eco-approach to music and writing - they're like an American In Hearts Wake.
Amidst a difficult period with a cancelled U.S. tour due to visa difficulties on Northlane's side, Silent Planet have been doing it a little rough and are encouraging fans to buy merch if they can - this pandemic has really crippled this industry. Nonetheless, this hasn't stopped the Californians on the new music front, dropping brand new tune 'Signal:'.
The new single is wrapped up as a superb little gift, we hope it fits on a new album or deluxe sometime. 'Signal:' commences with ambience before prog-tones gear-change in their atmosphere. With well-intended and briefly non-directional mathcore energy, Silent Planet show a different side to their approach. Taking on elements of peers like ERRA and Veil of Maya, the band deliver something truly astonishing, along with those delicious breakdowns they'll drop on you without warning.
On the new single, the band comments:
"This is the first chapter in a story of one particular transformation… and the 'impossible' events that followed initial contact. Whether we interpret these matters as fact or fiction is irrelevant, because we have become many things, but we've yet to be alone. 'Many become one.'"
