Miss May I Return After Five Years With 'Unconquered'
It's been a long five years since we witnessed new music from noughties metalcore royalty Miss May I. The Ohio-formed band toured the world on their 2017 record Shadows Inside, which still stands the test of time today, with singles like 'Swallow Your Teeth' and 'My Sorrow'.
Led by vocalist Levi Benton, the Miss May I crew are back after what feels like an eternity away from both the studio, for what appears to finally be the kickstart of their seventh studio record cycle. The band are also kicking off a big tour shortly in the U.S. with All That Remains, Varials and Tallah (who just announced a new record).
So what does 'Unconquered', the first taste of Miss May I in five years sound like? Just the way you hoped for it to sound. The three-minute single blisters in with Ryan Neff's signature cleans, as Benton dives into a filthy verse, assuring us that this band are remaining heavy. Just as I was thinking of these words, the lyrics on the song kick in - "So heavy, the world around me, so heavy, can't let it crush me." It's wonderful to hear Neff's clean vocals return, as it was always a crucial element of Miss May I. Honestly, the hype is real and we're here for this new era - 'Unconquered' is amazing.
