Man Overboard Vocalist Launches New Project - Zachary Ross & the Divine

Like The Wonder Years, The Story So Far and Transit, Man Overboard helped pave the way for pop punk in the early 2010s. Heck, they're also the ones responsible for that whole "defend pop punk" movement which saw staggering waves of Man Overboard t-shirts at pop punk shows across the world.
After four studio albums, the lads announced their hiatus in 2016, but ended it in 2018 with a ten-year anniversary tour in the US. It's been relatively quiet for the boys since then, until now. Vocalist Zac Eisenstein is today premiering his brand new project, Zachary Ross and the Divine. If you've been sorely missing the punchiness of Man Overboard, then I feel like you're going to absolutely froth this.
First single 'A Light Over Massachusetts' feels alot like everything we remember from the good ol' days. Featuring an incredibly explosive blend of upbeat guitars and a melancholy yet catchy hook, this is an absolute slapper of a tune that'll take you back to 2009. Despite its stark, upbeat energy, the song marks a heartfelt tribute to a close friend:
“Tim Landers from the band Transit was one of my best friends and partners in music. When he passed away I was emotionally devastated. This song is about me finding closure with the passing of my friend. I am doing everything I do for the rest of my career in his honor.”
'A Light Over Massachusetts' is our first taste of Zac's solo venture, with an EP due August 19th through Smartpunk Records. While Zachary Ross and the Divine is his current musical focus, there are murmurs that Man Overboard may have a comeback on the cards. But more on that down the track...
