Heavy metal triumphs Disturbed approached nu-metal with a unique approach as the millennium turned and set a new standard for the genre. Following iconic records like The Sickness, Ten Thousand Fists and Indestructible, the band got 'experimental'. And, look -we get it. Musicians want to grow, evolve and try new things. Diehard fans stuck around for less aggressive records Immortalized and Evolution, however for many of us it just wasn't quite the same as their roots. Well, we have some great news - as the band are celebrating 25 years of The Sickness, something has ignited their desire to click the resurgence button because they've just released their arguably best single in over a decade.

Australia witnessed a remarkable live performance from Disturbed at Knotfest in 2024 and it was welcomed by fans new and old, after many years off our shores. We spoke to guitarist Dan Donegan about the band's career and reflected on how far they've come. Later that day in Sydney, Disturbed tore the roof down in preparation for Pantera.

With non-stop touring and a new perspective with 2022's Divisive, it's safe to say they're back, baby! Today the Chicago group have released brand new single 'I Will Not Break', which we're hypothesising is the beginning of a new and heavy album cycle OR merely a continued celebration of the 25th Anniversary of breakthrough album The Sickness - which the band are touring across America from next week.

The track kicks off with an ominous intro, mysteriously sucking you into the direction they're going in. Then, the dialled down riffs kick in and an eyebrow is raised. The drums and bass join the party and then when vocalist David Draiman belches an iconic "ah-ah" you know we're so back. Diving into a gruff and melodic verse, reminiscent of their early records, it really feels like O.G. Disturbed. The band completely double-down on the early 2000s recipe rhythmically and stylistically.

'I Will Not Break' is incredibly enjoyable and catchy and is set to go viral as Disturbed take us back to a point of precision in their careers that we obsessed over.

Stream 'I Will Not Break' at midnight local time.
