Eat Your Heart Out Bounce Back with Punchy Track 'Down'
Finally crawling out of their overdue return is Newcastle alternative/rock outfit Eat Your Heart Out. The band have re-emerged today with their brand new single 'Down'.
The song picks up where the emo/pop punkers left us in 2019 with their sophomore release, Florescence. Vocalist Caitlin Henry sounds at her most powerful yet, next to the catchy rock melodies emanating throughout. 'Down' reminds me of the incredible hooks witnessed on the band's last album, on songs like 'Closer to the Sun' and 'Spinning' with a touch of maturity.
On the new song EYHO revealed:
"The lyrics were inspired by the idea of social media addiction, and specifically, when you're comparing yourself to others or see a negative comment about yourself or your art from some random person on the Internet and you know you shouldn't give it any weight, but sometimes, you do it anyway," the band says, pulling back the curtain to reveal the song's incredibly topical theme. "You always come out feeling worse, but it's so easy to become addicted to the quick validation of social media."
Eat Your Heart Out landed at #6 in our 20 Aussie Pop Punk Bands to Watch in 2022 list and they could creep up higher in no time if this is the taste of what's to come. I'm certainly keen!
