Captives Announce 10 Year Anniversary Tour with New Single 'Oblivion'

Freshly off ripping through Asia on their Kangaroo As Fuck Tour, Aussie punk band Captives are sending off 2023 in style. After the success of their previous single ‘Shadow Cat‘, the band has once again teamed up with producer Tyson Fish (Vance Joy, Children Collide, Mammal) and mastering by Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Make Them Suffer, Twelve Foot Ninja) to release ‘Oblivion’.

Oblivion‘ captures almost the essence of their band’s hardworking, whirlwind activities. Guitar-driven and grungy. Aaron Damon‘s vocals are gritty but almost soulful, taking us through the journey of the track. A unique blend of punk rock elements, classic Australian pub rock vibes and never missing a chance to write a catchy tune, it feels like a real sleeper hit.

To celebrate not just the release of the single, but also approaching their decade-long anniversary as a band, Captives have announced their 10 Year Anniversary Tour across Australia this coming February.

“We weren’t going to do anything for our ten years together, but a friend of ours talked us into it. So it’s exciting to launch new music and hit the road where it all started. It’s been a journey, with members coming and going, everyone has contributed to the sound and story in some way. We’ve made so many memories, friends, fans from Captives, so we are lucky to still be doing this," vocalist Aaron Damon reveals.

2023 has been a wild ride for Captives. From welcoming new bass player Margaret Noble into the fold, opening for US band He Is Legend in Melbourne and a split 7” vinyl with Sydney/Eora punk-rock band FANGZ- it hasn't slowed.Words by Kayla Hamilton @kaylazomboid
