Brisbane's The Comfort Return with 'Love is a Dying Plant'

It's been a long time, but The Comfort have re-emerged today with their soaring belter 'Love is a Dying Plant'. This is the band's first release since 2019's one-off single 'The Pain', a year after their signing to Greyscale Records and dropping debut LP, What It Is To Be. We're pretty stoked to see these Brissie boys back in action after quite the downtime away.

'Love is a Dying Plant' mourns the final lasting moments of a relationship and through its thumping rock melodies, the balancing act of emotions, helps in appreciating a bittersweet ending. Vocalist and bassist Dominic Harper explains its premise in further detail:

"The old version was lighter, more sombre and ultimately painted the story with calmness and resignation. I think ‘Love Is A Dying Plant’ still has those tones of calmness, but all the other emotions that went into writing these lyrics really hit hard with the heavier music and grittier vocal delivery. It’s probably my favourite vocal performance on any track we’ve ever released. I think it really sums up all of the mixed emotions you deal with when ending a relationship without the need for disrespect."

To celebrate the band's return to form in 2022, they've just been announced as main support for Brisbane pop punkers Waxflower in their upcoming EP tour this June in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Grab your tickets here if you're keen to experience two of Brissie's finest in alternative/emo!
