How's the energy from metalcore sweethearts The Devil Wears Prada? Over the past couple of years they've laid out their Zombie II EP, their Color Decay LP - both releases packed with diverse and powerful singles. With so much new material, guitarist Jeremy DePoyster shared with us some of his favourite songs of the band's career so far.
Fast forward to today, and The Devil Wears Prada are still dripping with energy and are unloading some more tunes. The Ohio-originated outfit just announced the Deluxe edition of their 2022 effort Color Decay, out May 5 via Solid State Records. The release will include two new singles 'Ignorance' plus 'Reaching' - the latter which you can stream right now. The Deluxe will also include an eight-track combination of acoustics, live recordings and remixes.
'Reaching' is a great way to kick-off the forthcoming release, with a radio-friendly tune that hones in on clean vocals and softer melodic tones with a progressive dial-up to that gruff emotive staple that the Ohio group deliver so well. This band are like a mature cheddar who have nailed the orchestration of their full sonic catalogue, in such a directed and coordinated way that reminds you they're one of the best in the biz.
On the Deluxe release, The Devil Wears Prada comment:
"We've been so proud of and grateful for Color Decay feedback, and with that, we're releasing our first deluxe edition in 15 years. Listeners have all chimed in with favorited tracks and we've cooked up a bunch of videos; fast forward, we figured we had no choice but to grow the Color Decay universe even bigger."
On the new single 'Reaching', vocalist Mike Hranica comments:
"'Reaching' is a song about unapologetic growth. I feel we often hear songs of resilience and strength that don't really cover the dirty, harder times. It takes struggle and failure to better oneself, and I think that's the soul of this tune."
