Rogue Half Keep The Heavy Wheels Turning on ‘The Sound of You’

Rogue Half death throes

They came back into our lives last month with ‘Death Throes‘, which showcased a new range and style for our fav Adelaide/Tarndanya band and now Rogue Half keep the momentum flowing with new guitar-driven single ‘The Sound of You‘.

It seems the band are heading away from the ambient vibes we first heard and fell in love with on songs like ‘Bite My Tongue‘ and ‘Play Pretend‘, but they’re honing in on a hard rock style akin to that of the not-so-metalcore songs on Thornhill‘s album The Dark Pool. Frontman Matt Keal‘s vocals are on fire as he sings smoothly before ripping into crisp-sounding screams just in time for the track’s climax – proving he’s one of the best new vocalists in the game right now!

Windwaker drummer (and producer) Chris Lalic has laid his expertise over this mix and it’s like a match made in heaven. As it turns out, this process was made possible remotely due to stupid RONA as the band shared:

“This song was a fun one to write… It’s a song that was created right in the middle of the endless lockdowns during 2021. Every time we planned to get to Melbourne to work with Chris on the EP, either one of our states would enter a lockdown, so this song was basically created entirely over Zoom.”

I seriously cannot believe how far this band have jumped from the start of the pandemic to now and I cannot wait to hear more about this rumoured upcoming release they’ve got going on behind the scenes…
