Oh man, the world is filling up with fantastic bands that deserve your attention, and none more so than Ocean Sleeper - who dropped their stellar single 'Forever Sinking' back in September last year, following it up with 'Your Love I'll Never Need' last month. The good news is both songs are now confirmed to be on their upcoming EP Is It Better Feeling Nothing which is set for release on August 19th.

When we grilled frontman Karl Spiessl about the upcoming release, its conception and what fans can expect - he candidly told us all:

"The ‘Is It Better Feeling Nothing’ EP is definitely our best work yet, the songwriting is a big level up. It’s also by far the heaviest thing we have ever done. A lot of bands say that about their upcoming releases but I don’t think people ever expected to hear an Ocean Sleeper release like this. This EP was created throughout lockdowns over video calls as at the time we were living in different parts of Victoria and Queensland. Helping us out was Jeff Dunne from America who has worked with Crystal Lake, Wage War and Motionless In White. Working with him has been so fun, he is such a legend."

Lyrically given this was a pandemic lockdown creation, it touches a lot on reflection. The things around me that I let choke me and the same things that I have to live with. For a long time, I feel like I’ve been stuck in self-destructive patterns that always fall back into the same place. So in reflection, I can stand back and break down the things around me causing this and in that, the things I am able to cut out and leave behind.

In celebration of this leap forward in their careers, the boys will be taking the EP on the road alongside international guests Thousand Below (US), Earth Caller and Inertia. Karl adds that these shows (much like their new music) will mark a BIG new step in their performances as the band and hit some of their biggest stages and venues yet:

"This tour in every way is the biggest thing we have ever done. Biggest venues, biggest touring package of bands, biggest production... Bringing over an international band has been a goal for such a long time and getting to bring over our new friends Thousand Below is so exciting. Can’t wait to unleash them on Australia! I can’t wait to hear the sing-alongs in these venues and put on a show people will never forget.

I feel like all the hard work we have ever done leads to this moment and I’m proud of everyone involved.

Get ready, everything is all about the change for Ocean Sleeper and you better hold onto your butts if you're coming along for the ride!
