Joshua Travis Recruits Polaris’ Jamie Hails & Jake Steinhauser For ‘Disdain’

Joshua Travis Polaris Disdain review

Joshua Travis‘ monster EP No Rest is out today via SharpTone Records. If you’re wondering who this riff-lord is, his resume only includes perfection with EmmureGlass Cloud, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, The Goddamn RodeoMonuments and When Knives Go Skyward.

In the lead-up to Travis’ new five-track EP, the guitarist released ‘Web of Lies‘ featuring Andy Cizek (of Monuments, Makari, Wvnderband, Termina) and Stephen Taranto (of Sydney band The Helix Nebula) as well as ‘Leviathan‘ featuring Crystal Lake‘s Ryo Kinoshita and Frontierer‘s Chad Kapper. Let’s just say these singles got our attention.

With the EP out today, we snagged a listen of track three of five, titled ‘Disdain‘. The single features no other than Aussie metalcore royalty PolarisJamie Hails & Jake Steinhauser whose Brisbane gig we’re still reeling from (February gig review here).

Disdain‘ kicks in with Hails ripping on the mic as Travis rapidly appears with his crunchy cascade of riff-heaven. Obviously, vocals aren’t the only Polaris flavour here, with Steinhauser on bass joining Travis, creating this Polaris-on-steroids kind of sound. It’s clear Travis had fun with this collab, and we’re glad he added an Aussie metalcore flavour to this wild release.

Enjoy the track at midnight local time.
