Def Leppard Share Diamond Star Halos Album Info With ‘Kick’ Single

Def Leppard Take What You Want review

Well it’s been a minute.

The last time we heard any new music from legendary British rockers Def Leppard was way back in 2015 with their self titled release. Since then after a tour of the album followed up by an anniversary tour of  Hysteria the boys tried a stadium run co-headlining with Motley Crue, but COVID had other ideas. So it seems in the ensuing shit fight of the global pandemic Joe, Rick and crew did what only a bunch of travelling musicians can do when there’s none more travel – write songs!

With the announcement of new full length album Diamond Star Halos it was only a matter of time before the first single dropped. So here we have hot off the press late night (for the southern hemisphere) release.

If the question is, do you want to get rocked? And the answer is yes the ‘Leps, well they don’t exactly come out all guns blazing. The first single ‘Kick’ is a mid-tempo rocker that took me a few listens to really appreciate. There’s no doubt the song is pure Def Leppard, I have no doubt fans will love it, and from the reactions I’m seeing online they do.

The band has a tried and true approach to their music, it’s what has kept them at the top of the rock for literally decades and here’s no straying from that on this track, it’s solid and dependable just like the band. The vibe screams summer, dancing the fine line between rock and pop the band does so well, with a hook that once in your head will be hard to forget.  With fourteen more tracks on the upcoming album I have no doubt fans are in for an absolute treat.
