If you haven’t jumped on US alternative artist Mod Sun yet, well today’s the day you might finally actually do. After dropping two killer singles in ‘Karma’ and ‘Bones’ at the end of 2020, Mod Sun has unleashed his third single, ‘Flames’ and it’s a collaboration with the motherfuckin’ pop punk princess herself — Avril Lavigne!
Okay, let’s backtrack a little — this collab has had the world all in a heated frenzy for the last few months ever since we hit up Goldfinger frontman and music producer John Feldmann for a chat, where he revealed he’s working with Avril Lavigne. Shortly after, studio pics of the pair surfaced all over Instagram and also appeared was Mod Sun!
‘Flames’ marks Avril’s first feature on a song since her sixth studio album, Head Above Water which was released way back in February 2019. The track is an emo pop jam which sees Avril and Mod Sun’s vocals ebb and flow together like two peas in a pod. It’s a little more on the ballad-y side, and definitely not what we were expecting from the pair, but hey, we’ll take it!
And ever since I got a hold of ‘Karma’ (which hasn’t left my regular listening schedule!), I kinda can’t get enough of Mod Sun and absolutely think he’s going to be a name well worth hearing more of as this year goes on.
