Defiler’s Jake Shaw Reveals Gut-Wrenching Health Battle and Drummer Craig Ledbetter’s Passing
It’s been an incredibly rough time in the Defiler camp, as frontman Jake Shaw has uploaded a video, giving fans an update with his heart on his sleeve.
In the 7-minute video, the vocalist reveals that in September he got very sick and was told his pancreas had stopped working after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Necrosis. Shaw was told by the medical team that he was not going to make it. Watch the full video below.
Following this gut-wrenching news, his update revealed that he is currently awaiting a series of tests, but is unsurprisingly hindered by the U.S. health system, and is undergoing a legal battle to address it.
Since getting sick, Shaw has lost 40 pounds (equivalent to around 18kg)! The medications have been crippling, and the deathcore musician is humbly asking for donations via his Venmo or PayPal (details below).

If that wasn’t enough horrible news, Shaw then announced that Defiler member Craig Ledbetter has passed away on Tuesday 27 October. Shaw commented that at least he’s not in any pain anymore, and said some lovely words about the late drummer. The frontman is asking fans if anyone has any footage of Craig to send through to Jake to compile.
