Parkway Drive Announce Viva The Underdogs Soundtrack Feat. Live & German Rerecorded Songs
Parkway Drive are going to be scoring a bunch of kudos across the world for their new documentary Viva The Underdogs which screened across Australia for one night only last night (our review here) and if you, like us, woke up this morning wanting to thrash some PWD in celebration, you’re going to be in for a treat as the band have dropped two new versions of their banging single ‘The Void‘ to keep the celebrations going and better yet, they come from a forthcoming soundtrack for the movie which features MORE SONGS to be released on March 27th via Resist Records.
The album has 11 songs recorded during their EPIC headline slot at Wacken Open Air 2019 (as seen in the movie) annnnd also features 3 rerecorded versions of their songs ‘The Void (Die Leere)‘, ‘Vice Grip (Würgegriff)‘ and ‘Shadow Boxing (Schattenboxen)’ with frontman Winston McCall belting them out in German (to appeal to the mass amount of fans they’ve accumulated over that part of the world) and, well, it just makes the song sound to times angrier in the process… Seriously, who does that? Parkway Fucking Drive does!!!
On the new german recording of ‘Die Leere‘ (aka ‘The Void‘), Winno says:
“This was hands down one of the most unique projects we’ve undertaken… The idea of taking our songs and interpreting them through another language was a massive challenge, but considering the amount of time, love and support that has been shown to us over the years we wanted to commit to doing the project with full integrity. The result is every effort being made to translate the meaning, spirit, and conviction of these songs in a language that is not our own. We hope the result helps to strengthen the connection this music creates. We offer you these songs out of respect and our heartfelt thanks for all the times you have sung them with us in their original forms. We hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed the process of creating them.”
If you missed it, when we caught up with Winston backstage at Good Things Festival, the guy is just an absolute legend who speaks very highly of all of the band’s fans, so it’s no surprise they’re going above and beyond for the group of metalheads (and festival organisers) who gave them a chance to prove themselves at the LARGEST heavy music festival in the world
You heard it here first, it won’t be long before we see Parkway team up with Rammstein for a tour over that way. Can you imagine the bill for all of that pyro!?!?
