The Last Martyr announce Creatrix EP and drop new single 'Fear'

An Aussie band on the rise we can't wait to see explode are The Last Martyr from Melbourne who today have announced their forthcoming Creatrix EP will be unleashed upon the world on April 26th and to celebrate they've dropped a brand spankin' new song called 'Fear'.

We grabbed frontwoman Monica Strut to find out a little more about the new EP/single and, as the title suggests, what her biggest fear is...

Congrats on the news today Mon, on a scale of 1 to Keen AF, how badly do you want this new music to be released?

Thank you so much! Ummmm SUPER keen AF! We have been working behind the scenes as a band for over a year now and whilst we've released singles and have been building online, we're pumped to take this next step. With the EP also comes shows, which we're freakin excited about. We've literally been climbing the walls to get on stage so stay tuned for some announcements soon!

The new song/video for 'Fear' is great. It immediately catches your attention and draws you in for the entirety! Where'd the inspiration for this one come from?

The video is centered around this motif of a mirror and a projector. I spent a lot of time last year working through limiting beliefs and fears of my own. Through this process I realised that a lot of the time the 'fears' we have are just others' limiting beliefs being pushed onto you. Especially as musicians we're constantly told we can't make a living or tour or anything else. That's bullshit because there are plenty of people doing just that. So the song and video is really about recognising that firstly our fears aren't always our own, but secondly, fear is our minds way of keeping us safe. Thanks brain, but I'm not going to die by starting a business, starting a band, public speaking or whatever the situation is.

While we're on the subject, what is your biggest fear?

My biggest fear is getting to 80 years old and having regrets. This thought drives pretty much everything I do and always has. I'm very stubborn and driven and it's only because I want to live life to the fullest and inspire others to do the same.

With new music on the way, that must mean some shows are coming too right? Anything you can shed some light on for us?

So in relation to shows, we will be announcing a Sydney date VERY soon and our EP launch after that. We have two killer shows coming up with incredible line ups so VERY excited!!
