We have enjoyed watching the natural progression of Brisbane’s WAAX over the years and 2017 was a pretty fuckin’ spectacular year for the indie-rock five piece who not only released their Wild & Weak EP and toured on the back of it, but also scored a shitload of radio airplay, support slots for Dune Rats, Yours & Owls Festival and last night with Violent Soho (review here) just to name a few. Next year will be HUUUGE for the band but before then here’s frontwoman Marie DeVita‘s thoughts on our Wall of Sound 2017 Year In Review…

Favourite Moment You Had With Your Band in 2017?
“There have been so many great times lately and to be honest, even just hanging in the rehearsal studio together is the best. But personally, when Macka from Cosmic Psycho’s ordained me as ‘Mad Mazza’ after a show in Brisbane or when we went out on a houseboat trip with Violent Soho, Dunies and Hockey Dad + crew and almost got lost at sea. It’s a long story. Memories we certainly made.”
Best Show Your Band Played in 2017?
“The Forum on the Dunies tour. That place is incredible. And we got to play it twice. Both of them sold out too.”
What Are You Most Looking Forward to in 2018?
“I think we’re all pretty keen to hit up these arena shows with Fall Out Boy haha. And get back into the studio. Itching to record again.”
