PREMIERE: Brisbane’s Mindful unleash debut Single/Video ‘Lex’

If melodic hardcore bands are your kryptonite, then you’ve come to the right place as we are stoked to Premiere ‘Lex‘ the debut single/video for Brisbane band Mindful made up of former members of the bands First Sight and What We’re Worth.

From the ashes of their previous fallen bands, Mindful set to do their part to help in the war against mental illness by engaging with fans via their music and encouraging them to speak out if they need help with their own mental wellbeing.

Vocalist Lloyd Colligan elaborated on their new song and it’s important, yet hard hitting meaning behind it:

“This song means a lot to me, and it is no coincidence that this was the first song we are releasing. Lyrically, it’s very direct and emotive and honestly, pretty depressing – but that’s what it’s about. It’s about being depressed and experiencing that feeling of being trapped in a mind that is starting to give up. This feeling comes around all too often to such a huge proportion of the world, and it seems to be happening more and more. Mental Illness has only recently started to be taking seriously. Look at what just happened in Las Vegas. People are sick and this world is poisoning them.”

The boys want to make sure that people know that they can reach out for help at Lifeline by calling 13 11 14 if they need support.

Llyod goes further into the lyrics, stating:

“”I feel the flutter up my neck, I feel the chill from its scent” refers to the creeping up of that feeling: depression, mental exhaustion. It’s a haunting feeling, and too many people that I love and know have experienced that feeling in its darkest way. Hopefully the lyrics don’t get taken the wrong way (especially the chorus – it’s pretty direct), but people can interpret them the way they want. All I hope to bring is an emotion that is relatable to people that might be feeling the same thing or isolated and alone because of these feelings that cloud their mind in the darkest way”

Mindful will launch new single ‘Lex‘ The Brightside in Brisbane on November 2 – which will also serve as the band’s first live performance. So if you like what you hear and you want to check out an energetically, motivated group of legends, make sure you get down and pay them a visit.
