Charlie Benante, drummer from Anthrax and the guy filling in for the late, great Vinnie Paul Abbott for the upcoming Pantera shows has shared pics from a two week rehearsal period that has taken place in New Orleans. Dimebag (RIP) fill-in Zakk Wylde and OG Pantera bass player Rex Brown feature heavily in the photos, while Benante managed to sneak in a cheeky blurred pic of frontman Phil Anselmo. Talking about the rehearsal, Benante wrote,

"2 weeks in NOLA with these boys, it’s been a lot of work but how could it not?. So much heart and soul is going into it. This is all about the Love for Vinnie and Dime, the fans and the music that these 4 created. I’m really enjoying playing these songs - they sound Great! It’s very emotional and it’s just starting to hit me…see you soon, I need a drink”

Benante and Wylde should have even more time to rehearse the songs as their main bands Anthrax and Black Label Society embark on a tour together at the start of next year with thrash legends Exodus. The Pantera tour has a lot of buzz building around it was announced back in July. Anselmo played few of their most well known track with his Phil Anselmo and The Illegals project in recent years. But this will be the first time since 2001 that anyone has toured under the Pantera moniker, and will be without brothers Dimebag and Vinnie Paul who both passed away in 2004 and 2018 respectively.

So far shows have been announced from December through til June 2023 in Mexico, Columbia, Chile, Brazil, Germany, Sweden and Norway. No Australia though. Not yet at least. But fingers crossed they get here soon enough.
