Ocean Sleeper Levels Up For 2023's Climax with Catchy New Single 'Heaven'

To say our favs in Ocean Sleeper have had a successful year would be an understatement...Following on from the release of last year's highly acclaimed Is It Better Feeling Nothing EP, the Gippsland lads released 'Never The One' and a collaborative effort on Outloved's single 'Tourniquet' before jumping on their own headline tours and supporting the likes of Sunk Loto and Make Them Suffer, alongside stops at both Froth & Fury and UNIFY: Off The Record. The band will wrap up 2023 in style with an appearance at the big boy Good Things Festival - but before we see them off, they've delivered one final treat to amp us up. New single 'Heaven' is here and it's another doozy filled with synth, clean riffs and IoneiHeckenberg leading the charge with his charismatic cleans, while KarlSpiessl offers up his own in a tango between the pair from start to end. The BMTH/'Ludens' influences are easily picked up throughout, but who wouldn't be inspired by what that blockbuster band do.There's even a sneaky lil breakdown too that'll please fans at upcoming shows. On the track's inspiration the band shares:

"'Heaven' is about not wanting a part of religious ideologies and the concept of heaven itself. The lyric line 'I hope you burn with the rest of us' refers to the corruption of the church. If heaven is a place you end up for treating people badly; then why would you want to be there with those people. Why do I have to fear the afterlife because we don't share the same faith? For us, heaven is being kind to the people around us in this life. Support everyone for what they love and who they love."

Karl Spiessl also stopped into WoS HQ for a bit of a chat about the year and their anticipation for Good Things next week. You've had a huge year following the release of the EP, tell us about the ride since then as we approach the end of 2023.2023 has been an incredible year for us. We have been a part of our biggest tours and festivals with bucket list bands and joining the New World Artists artist family. Touring with Make Them Suffer was one of the most fun we have been a part of. We also watched ‘Never The One’ quickly become our biggest song. Closing the year we can’t wait to have our new song ‘Heaven’ grow taking us further into this new cycle but also our more refined era of Ocean Sleeper. You're going out with a bang at Good Things Festival - how's the camp feel about playing that big boy festival and any surprises? We are all just so excited and proud to be on the Good Things lineup! I always dreamed of playing a Soundwave or Big Day Out, so Good Things will be super special for me. So many of the bands I either grew up listening to or are bands I love currently are playing so I hope I get a chance to soak in as much of the festival as well after our set.Plan your Good Things day around catching Ocean Sleeper with our Rolling Coverage hereWords by Paul ‘Browny’ Brown@brownypaul
