The boys in Loveless recently put forward their newest single 'Picasso' which for anyone who is also a fan of iconic artists, I feel will enjoy the small references that are woven into the lyrics of the chorus.

While listening to 'Picasso', I found it was unlike previous singles (‘I Hope I’m Not Sickand 'Drag Me Down') in the sense that it is more upbeat and has playful energy soundwise with catchy hooks at just the right moments to really draw you in. The lyrics have somewhat of a darker connotation to them as the song was inspired by anxiety, but when you listen, you don’t feel as if you’re listening to anything other than a fun song that holds some incredible guitar riffs. It genuinely makes me excited for what these two have coming up next.

On the new song, vocalist Julian Comeau says,

“‘Picasso is a dance rock anthem for the anxious artist in all of us... Regardless of how or what you create, it’s about feeling your creativity slipping away, and about being torn between two juxtaposed versions of one’s self. It’s the battle between who you are versus who you wish you could be.”

This release shows that the duo have been consistently not staying in just one lane and rolling with what they know will work for them. It does appear that while they do have what seems to be a signature sound in terms of style, I say that quite loosely as I feel as though the pair have continually shown that they are adaptable to any different style, and if it’s not adapting to it, it’s showing that they draw inspiration from every facet of the musical world.

I think there is something to be said about the way that the band have been able to step it up a notch, changing up their style slightly from what people may have heard from them before into something fresh that may appeal to a wider variety of listeners who may just be introduced to them now.

Their ever-changing innovative sound makes them one to watch in future and we can't wait to see where they go next!
