UPDATE: Tenacious D's Newcastle show tonight has been postponed.

What started as a mid-show, birthday wish joke, has turned into a global witch hunt for Tenacious D's Kyle Gass following his "bad taste" stab at Former President Trump during the band's concert at ICC on Sunday evening...Let's set the scene:During the show, the dynamic duo consisting of Kyle and his Hollywood lead vocalist and guitarist JackBlack paused the music to celebrate Gass's 64th Birthday in front of the second sold out show for Sydney-siders. Jack Black, along with help from the crowd, sang Happy Birthday, while a cast member dressed as a robot delivered a cake to a thunderous celebration, complete with Jack's exceptional range taking us to the song's completion. When asked what Kyle wished for as he blew out the candles, he simply uttered the phrase:

"Don't Miss Trump Next Time"

The offbeat joke came hours after Trump's failed assassination attempt and was met with mixed emotions across the iconic venue as heard in the video below provided by WoS staff member Duane James and his Higher Ground Tattoos Kurrajong colleague Tayla (@taylatattoo).https://www.instagram.com/reel/C9ZvCsaS29p/When we posted the video to our socials on Sunday evening, there was barely a flutter of attention with many shaking off the joke and moving on with their lives. This morning though, all hell has broken loose with media reports on a global scale calling out the TenaciousD member for his "poor taste" joke.[caption id="attachment_187106" align="aligncenter" width="350"]

lol wot[/caption]If you're unfamiliar with the band, they're like a combination of your funny uncles at family gatherings, taking stabs and making jokes in between playing hit tracks like 'Tribute', 'Wonderboy' and 'The Metal'; to everyone else, they've fast become public enemy number one.It seems there are a few Aussie media operators out there who are hellbent on "comment baiting" or inciting negativity for the tour following the Sunday night show, but would they have bothered if the news didn't get the global traction it has overnight?Where do you stand on the joke? Too far or simply making fun of a topical world event with one of the most polarising identities of our generation?
