After a monstrously successful 2023 inclusive of national and international touring, a full-length LP release and a single release, Invent Animate, a band that has been referred to as the future of metalcore numerous times, has continued on their path of an upward trajectory as we enter into 2024. As the group embark on their first tour of the year supporting melodic metalcore giants in Beartooth across North America, they have blessed us with an offering that explores both the group's melodic side and their technically focused heavy sound. The four-minute-long track begins with an immersion of low-tuned instrumental sounds as vocalist Marcus Vik wastes no time by taking every opportunity to spit venom into the mic before showing off his hauntingly unearthly clean vocals throughout the melodically focused chorus. Guitarist Keaton Goldwire continues to prove why he is one of the most exciting up-and-coming guitarists to hit the international touring circuit; his technically focused capabilities, as well as his abilities to leave space for other band members to flourish, almost always directly translates to a smooth and delightful listening experience which is precisely how I would describe new single 'Sleepless Deathbed'. Also, let's not overlook the awe-inspiring skills of Brody Taylor Smith as he gives it his all from behind the kit. This world-class four-piece operate like a well-oiled machine and 'Sleepless Deathbed' simply cements that belief. On the new track the band shares

"The song is about hallucinating a state of your own death and being stuck in that lifeless plane of constant and repeating discomfort. Where all your bad memories, big and small, are falling down on you in the form of rain and making you feel it all again, physically all at once. At a point, you start to think this might be death and that it might be like this forever. It weighs you down so much that your ground melts and you fall down through a static space through your own memories. The fall becomes the sleepless deathbed, where you’ve come to serve until the end of time. This is one of those songs that was written naturally, we knew we wanted something fast and heavy and we knew lyrics needed to represent physical panic."

Is this single a part of something bigger? an EP? a full-length LP? Only time will tell. For now, let's take comfort in the fact that Invent Animate aren't slowing down throughout 2024, sit back and appreciate the world class efforts that Invent Animate have invested into this diverse track.Words by Adam Rice
