What a devastating way to start the year with news coming out from Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas that the band's former bassist Shane Bisnett, sadly passed away on January 1st, 2019. He was only 31 years old.
Charnas revealed the news on Instagram, sharing anecdotal stories about his old bandmate, who was an integral player in the making of the band's second album Safe Is Just A Shadow, with Spencer revealing:
"I am so incredibly sad to hear that my old friend Shane Bisnett died on New Year’s day. Shane was an immensely kind and talented musician who had such a powerful and beautiful tone to his voice. In addition to touring with Ice Nine Kills for years, Shane also wrote a ton of the great melodic elements of our ‘Safe Is Just A Shadow’ album with me. I’ll always remember those cold Rochester, NY nights in 2009 working on songs with him and searching for that “perfect chorus” together..."
He also shared a video of the two playing together acoustically from a time when Shane was still in the band. He departed in 2011 following the release of Safe Is Just A Shadow but his legacy still lives on through the remastered re-release and music videos, including 'The People Under The Stairs' seen below. Our thoughts go out to Shane's family, friends and fans during this difficult time.
