It's the second last New Music Friday before that big man with the full sack breaks into your house, but Code Orange are getting in early with a new tune for us to lose ourselves while listening to, with an even bigger connection to the wrestling world!
The band have teamed up with WWE Music Group and dropped a new song titled 'Shatter' which is set to be the new theme song for returning wrestler Bray Wyatt - who took a break from the industry in 2021 (at the height of his popularity) following the passing of close friend/fellow wrestler John Huber (aka Brodie Lee). But with this new development, he is back with a purpose and fans are going to lose their minds over this news and his brand new ominous theme song - crafted by the Code Orange (former kids) which is nothing short of epic.
According to our wrestling expert Todd Gingell, he gave us a rundown of Bray's history for the ill-informed:
"Bray (real name Windham Lawrence Rotunda), a member of the prestigious Windham wrestling family, began his career in WWE as the leader of the Wyatt family, and in that time he managed to win three heavyweight championships. At his most popular, he portrayed the character 'The Fiend', with his horror-inspired mask that was designed by horror make-up/prosthetic artist Tom Savini - who created various looks for Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th franchise and produced Corey Taylor's Slipknot mask for the We Are Not Your Kind era"

Wyatt is a huge old-school metal fan and no stranger to working with Code Orange, who he teamed up with on the theme song 'Let Me In' for his aforementioned character 'The Fiend', which made its way back on streaming platforms in October.
Back to the new song though...
Combining an alluring piano intro, the track then opens up with an uptempo beat and erupts into a balladesque performance - a little akin to the slow parts of Linkin Park's 'What I've Done', but a fresh approach with minimal screaming, a bunch of gang vox and plenty of sing-a-long inducing chorus sections.
Code Orange have been going gangbusters and even scored a slot on our Move Up to the Main Stage: 6 Bands That Show the Metal is Alright! article, proving they are well worth the upgrade to main stages across the globe, especially following the release of their breakthrough album Underneath back in 2020.
