Carcosa Burst At The Seams With Nu-Deathcore GHOSTMANE Cover 'Mercury'

Vancouver deathcore crew Carcosa are back on their bullshit, and we're all about it. Following their 2021 debut EP Anthology, the four-piece released a series of wild singles that shaped their position on the heavy music map; just give 'Born To Lose' a listen to get a reminder of their brutality.Amongst the myriad of diverse singles, the boys experimented with tracks like ‘Nihilus‘ where they dabbled in symphonic elements of deathcore and even a crusty style on ‘Restless‘ which is definitely worth a spin.As Carcosa enter 2024, they've got another new beast for us to analyse called 'Mercury' where they double down on the 'nu', and of course this one is a Ghostmane cover. The two-minute track kicks in with a bassy and groovy style with heavily low tuned riffs with Sharpy-esque vocals. As the track develops, the blast-beats ensue and the gutturals explode before alternating with that pseudo hip-hop style that works so well on these deathcore tracks.I just love Carcosa's versatility and how they have the talents to dabble across sub-genres in a not so serious way; some of Canada's best.Words by Ricky Aarons (@rickysaul90)
