UPDATE: It's a fake. The poster was made by an Australian based concert troll who initially posted it up yesterday but misspelt Auckland so they took it down and tried again today. It's made international headlines.

In a statement, the troll told us:

"So, the insta was shopped, the poster isn’t anything amazing but the Insta really sells it. I just changed the post count and time stamp of it haha As far as why [I did it], I mean, I love a good troll hey. Plus how sick would it be if Rage did get their ass down here, and Splendour doesn’t seem too far out of the realm of possibility. Especially as it’s their 20th year."

Ok, please take this with a grain of salt until something gets announced officially (because you should never believe everything you read on the internet) but a tour poster for Rage Against The Machine's supposed 2020 World Tour has been chucked online and it says the band will be playing shows in Australia in July with locations of Byron Bay and Melbourne.

Now we know that the only event to take place in Byron Bay during July is Splendour in the Grass and a sideshow in Melbourne is absolutely possible given the experiences of previous years, so this could be plausible. Next year SITG could fall upon the dates of July 17-19 which places the RATM show as the Saturday headliners. No dates have been confirmed though from Splendour just yet

One of our trusted WoS Readers flicked us a screenshot of a now-deleted Instagram post from RATM's account which also shared the dates too

There are also dates for more international festivals like both weekends of Coachella (which was already confirmed in their initial reunion tour dates last month) and in the past, we've seen several bands who played Coachella, head over to Australia for Splendour after their appearances so chances are this "leaked" poster could be legit. But once again, take it with a grain of salt.

What do you reckon? Could this be legit? Could you see Rage Against The Machine playing Splendour in the Grass over something like Download Festival!? The band were last in Australia in 2008 for their first reunion shows playing Big Day Out so maybe, just maybe, they could!?

Stay tuned for more...
