We The Kings Drop Ultimate Nostalgia with Derek Sanders on 'When We Were Young'
Noughties emo pop/rock heartbreakers We The Kings have been flying under the radar the last few years, only popping up for a one-off collaboration in 2019 with Simple Plan & State Champs and releasing their SAGA EP last year. Yes, we're a bit late to the party, but I just gave SAGA a quick spin and oh my god, it's a neat little six-track EP that'll hit the spot for OG pop punk listeners.
Now, the band are hurtling straight back into our lives with an absolutely fresh tune in 2022 — and it's about time. Titled 'When We Were Young' and also featuring Mayday Parade frontman Derek Sanders, the song is a crankin' anthem that'll fill you up with memories of summer drives with your favourite people. Its vibrant pop melody is full of nostalgia for the band's iconic track 'Check Yes Juliet' that will no doubt inspire you to live in the moment more in order to relive your youth.
Honestly, does it almost feel like We The Kings and Mayday Parade were hit up by Live Nation to drop the "unofficial" anthem for the upcoming emo throwback festival two weeks out from the event? Look, we'll never know... but for those that are heading to Las Vegas for Emo Fyre Fest aka When We Were Young Festival next week, here's the song you need to get you all hyped AF for the gig!
