The Halo Effect Deliver More Gothenburg Melodeath With 'Days Of The Lost', Title-Track Of Debut Album
It's been a few months since we heard new music from The Halo Effect, and after dazzling melodic death metal fans with their duo of singles, they're back with a third release, titled 'Days Of The Lost'. It's worth taking a second to rewind and recap on who The Halo Effect are, and their story so far.
The band consists of mostly former In Flames members (and probably your favourite ones), namely Jesper Strömblad (CYHRA guitarist), Daniel Svensson (drummer), Peter Iwers (bassist), Niclas Engelin (guitarist) as well as Dark Tranquillity's Mikael Stanne (vocalist).
The Halo Effect have absolutely wowed fans with their first ever two tracks 'Shadowminds' and ‘Feel What I Believe‘ ahead of their first ever tour with Machine Head (who just announced a new album) and Amon Amarth across the UK/Europe - and now the Scandinavians are back for more. Let's take a look at the Gothenburg metalers latest effort, ‘Days Of The Lost‘.
The new single is just as superb as the prior two tracks The Halo Effect have unveiled for us. Stanne continues to deliver an immense nostalgic vocal effort behind those Swedish melodeath grooves that these musicians are known for, and have probably missed writing and recording if I were to take a guess. ‘Days Of The Lost‘ is the validation from The Halo Effect that we didn't need.
Update: The Halo Effect have announced their debut album, also titled Days of the Lost, coming out August 12, 2022 via Nuclear Blast. See pre-order info and tracklisting below.
On the single Stanne comments:
"‘Days Of The Lost’ is about finding your place in life, about making that outcast experience into something that propels you forward. We all met in our mid-teens and we were all trying to find direction, motivation and meaning. Thankfully we found it in creativity and music and we shared this passion and made something from it that remains an essential part of who we are as individuals and as parts of a whole. So this is us reflecting on our past, while watching a new generation slowly but surely find their path. It's about standing up, being your true self and about not letting anything stand in your way. Our choices and our paths have led to all kinds of things but we wouldn't change a thing.”
